Beat Rate Meter
Beat Rate Meter

help me with this problem?
After running the 1600 meter race in a track meet, a runner’s heart rate increases to 180 beats per
minute. A resting heart rate is 70 beats per minute. After the race what will happen to his heart rate?
This is an example of what process?
A simple answer is that his heart rate will slowly decrease as oxygen levels and CO2 levels in his blood return to “normal” levels; the lactic acid that accumulated in his muscle cells needs to enter the respiratory pathway and be metabolized, since lactic acid is a cytotoxin.
This is an example of homeostasis, the goal of organismal processes.
