What Pediatric Advanced Life Support approved tools are out there to check the estimated weight of a child? ?
What Pediatric Advanced Life Support approved tools are out there to check the estimated weight of a child? Is it the BMI? Or BSA? I can’t figure it out because both of these require you to know the child’s weight. But if you don’t, you can use an estimated weight…correct??
You can use a Broselow tape, which is basically a measuring tape that estimates the kid’s weight based on height. Or, you can just eyeball the kid and guess. Most pediatric nurses and doctors are pretty familiar with how much a kid weighs just by looking at him, and the doses will be close enough.

Many pediatric ERs have bags color coded according to the height/age of the child that has all the right equipment for that kid in that bag
